Ladybower Fisheries is delighted to announce that due to the imminent relaxations of Coronavirus regulations we'll be opening for fishing business on Monday March 29th 2021 😃 Of course, we would however request that everybody respects social distancing, the rule of six, and continues to follow government guidelines. 👍
You might be interested to know what we've been up to at Ladybower during our closed season. Time waits for no-one so we've used it to make some quite major improvements and additions to our operation, including boats, outbuildings, cage extensions and fish welfare. Accessibility under the auspices of Troy Chadwick has taken a major leap forward with the addition of two fully funded and adapted BDAA Pioner fishing boats to our existing Wheelyboat Trust fleet which will be operating under the guidance of our various RYA Registered boat handlers and one of our many Angling Trust Level 2 Coaches if required.
The fish welfare has been greatly improved with a more focused attention to detail and an increase in capacity including the reintroduction of the 'Brick Pond’, a traditional structure initially constructed by Italian POWs in the 1940's and now restored thanks to the hard work of Mark Butterley, as well as a new fish cage for the centre of the reservoir built by Lee Hunt. This will enable us to meet our required stocking levels during the season while allowing a surplus for an exciting new venture, which you'll be hearing all about in greater detail as things progress. A full stocking program is due to begin in time for the new fishing season with an introduction of fighting fit rainbow trout starting at the beginning of March. 🙂
Float Tubing will resume and sessions for newcomers are available under the watchful tutelage of Iain Lindsay. Ladybower is a great venue for this ever developing and expanding element of angling and more and more are turning to it as the most fun way of catching fish. Learn how to do it all with us at reasonable Castability tuition rates, which will also apply to anybody fresh into the sport and looking for a modern approach to the teaching of fly fishing itself. 🦆🦆🦆
Our new Accessible Jetty was installed at the back end of last season and is designed to berth our three front loading accessible boats safely allowing multiple wheelchair access, whilst also a casting platform in its own right, built with specially designed railings to allow unhindered casting for those who fish seated. This structure is now available to use and adds to the overall flexibility of our operations here at Ladybower. 🚣♂️
